SP Toolbox

Understanding SSD Endurance
Two key metrics are used to estimate SSD endurance:
  • Total Bytes Written (TBW): Calculated using the formula:TBW = Physical Capacity × NAND Program/Erase Cycles ÷ Write Amplification Factor ÷ Wear Leveling Factor.
  • Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD): Defined as:DWPD = Total Bytes Written (GB) ÷ Usable Capacity (GB) ÷ (Warranty Period (Years) × 365).

These calculations provide an understanding of how much data the SSD can handle over its lifespan.

SP SMART Toolbox

The SP SMART Toolbox is a user-friendly application designed specifically for industrial flash storage products. It offers comprehensive monitoring and configuration features, allowing users to easily track the health and performance of their devices.

Key features include:

  • Health Monitoring: Displays TBW and other usage data, assuming a wear leveling factor of 2 for all SP Industrial SSDs.
  • SMART Attributes: Provides detailed attribute information for further analysis, ensuring users can predict and prevent potential issues.
  • Command Line Interface: Available upon request for users who prefer advanced control through a command-line environment.

With the SP SMART Toolbox, users can efficiently monitor and manage their SSDs, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
