Challenge
5G communication systems are often installed outdoors, such as on utility poles, exposing them to extreme conditions including high temperatures, lightning, and power failures. To ensure continuous operation in these challenging environments, storage devices must be exceptionally durable and stable. Broad operating temperature range and industrial-grade protection technologies are essential to enhance device reliability and prevent failures due to temperature fluctuations or environmental stresses.
Customer Requirements
A 5G communications client set forth stringent stability requirements for SSD devices, including:
• Extended Temperature Range: Product must operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C to handle extreme heat and low temperatures.
• Enhanced Durability: Additional protection against power outages, lightning strikes, and dust to ensure stable system operation.
• Optimized Thermal Design: Improved heat dissipation to guarantee stable long-term operation.
Solution and Technology
To meet these requirements, we developed an SSD storage device designed for wide-temperature environments, with key technologies and solutions including:

• PFP (Power Failure Protection) Technology: Enhanced power-failure protection to prevent data loss during power outages or lightning events, ensuring continuous system stability.
• Industrial-Grade Durable Components: Equipped with industrial-grade components that underwent 3000 Power Cycle tests, temperature cycling tests in high and low-temperature conditions, 100% dynamic temperature testing, and an 18-hour PCBA static burn-in test to ensure long-term stability.
• Efficient Thermal Design: Features reinforced heat sinks and thermal materials that quickly and effectively disperse heat, ensuring stable performance during extended operation.
